On behalf of the Delta Gamma chapter of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Incorporated we would like to wish all mothers, step mothers, god mothers, grandmothers, aunts & women who take on mother like duties a Happy Mother's Day! Mother's Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May. The United States celebrates Mother's Day on the second Sunday in May. Also in the United States, the celebration of Mother's Day began in the early 20th century. Mother's Day is celebrated in more than 46 countries throughout the world. On this day, many people pray in churches in honor of mothers, while some gift them presents on this day to express their love. Some may have dinner at home with the family. One of the most popular ways people celebrate Mother's Day is by giving their mother a card and bouquet of flowers. As it is a holiday, some people prefer to go out for a picnic to celebrate this festival. In schools, kids dedicate poems to their mothers and also perform various roles on this day. In many cases, children and fathers take on the "mom" role on this day as an expression of their appreciation, leaving the mother in the family to focus on rest and relaxation for the day.
If you are a mother, we pray your Mother's Day was full of love and appreciation. If you are not a mother, we pray you made your mother or a mother like figure enjoy their day!
